And the Winner of the 2016 Maven Business Book Covers Contest Is …

Zoe McKey and her book, Daily Routine Makeover—Morning Edition: Morning Tactics and Strategies To Get More Energized, Productive and Healthy All Day!

Zoe has written a number of books, all of which have great covers. If you liked this winning cover, you should head to her website and see some of her other books and covers. It’s clear that Zoe understands the importance of creating business book covers that are bold, colorful, and that stand out at any size.

Now, because all of the nominations were so strong, we decided that one winner just wasn’t enough. We enlisted Todd Simpson, one of the designers responsible for many of Maven’s covers, to select a “Designer’s Choice” winner from among the nominees.

Without further adieu, the Designer’s Choice winner is…

Dan Roam, with his book, Draw to Win: A Crash Course on How to Lead, Sell, and Innovate With Your Visual Mind!

Todd said this about Roam’s book cover: “Draw to Win’s creative, hand-drawn aesthetic is striking against the stark white background. The splash of red and the marker cap resting nearby attracts the eye to the relevant word.”

Todd has a keen eye for design, especially for the specific challenges of business book covers, and he thought Roam’s book beautifully combined artistry with practicality and readability. Congratulations, Dan!

We want to thank everyone who participated in the contest, either by sending us a nomination or by voting. We send a special thanks also to all of the authors and designers of all the nominated books. We love being able to give credit where it’s due, and you all have set great examples for aspiring authors of business books, who may be wondering how to create an outstanding cover that will help their book stand out to readers.

As promised, both winning authors will receive a free Maven book of their choice!

The contest was so successful, we’re looking forward to having another one in 2017! We hope you’ll start to notice the differences between various business book covers and what makes certain ones shine. Keep your favorites in mind, and send them our way next September!

Of course, if you are an aspiring business book author yourself, we’d love to talk to you. We help authors at any stage of the book creation process—from brainstorming ideas to editing to cover design to publishing. Get in touch with us today so we can talk about your ideas, and so we can see how we can help you reach the finish line!
