Announcing the First Annual Maven Business Book Cover Contest!

Announcing the First Annual Maven Business Book Cover Contest!

I recently wrote an article for Businessing Magazine about book covers and how the quality of your book’s cover can make or break its success. This is especially true of business books, whose readers tend to be busy professionals themselves. They don’t have time to sort through hundreds and hundreds of choices; they will narrow the field quickly by disregarding books with unprofessional or unattractive covers.

In the article, I highlighted a handful of business books whose covers I thought were striking and effective, and at Maven, we thought it would be fun to encourage you to do the same. That’s why we’re launching our first ever Business Book Cover Contest! Participating is easy. Simply go to any book retailer of your choice (in-person or online) and take notice of the selection of business books. Which covers stand out to you? If any of them make you say, “I want to read that,” or, “That cover is so sleek and professional; that author must be an expert,” then we want to hear about it!

During the months of September and October, we will be accepting nominations for great business book covers. Use the contact form on our site, and let us know the title of the book and the author. We’ll compile all the nominations, and then we’ll present them to you in November and ask for your votes!

The author of the winning book will receive some special accolades from us, and the person who nominates the winner will receive a free copy of any of Maven’s books. If you haven’t checked our books out yet, we have some great ones to choose from, including books by two San Diego small business owners: Matthew Smith, CEO of Modmacro, and Matthew Grisafe, President of AV Programming Associates (AVPA).

We can’t wait to hear about your favorite covers, and we can’t wait to honor all of the authors and business owners who put in the time and effort to get great covers for their books.

Stay tuned to hear about how the contest is progressing, and if you have questions about book covers (or anything about books at all!), don’t hesitate to contact us right away.
