Has the Coronavirus Changed Car Buying Habits Forever?

Has the Coronavirus Changed Car Buying Habits Forever?

The novel Coronavirus has affected every area of people’s lives in the last few months, but one in particular that you may not have thought about is how people buy cars. The traditional method of buying a car involves going to a dealership and looking at cars until you find one you want to test drive. Once you have test driven a few, you are ready to make a decision and purchase the car. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus, people have not been able to leave their homes and test drive a car.

The solution to this problem, and the catalyst for change in the car buying process, are provided by companies like Carvana and Carmax. Both of these companies provide online services that help people browse through cars and even have the option to buy, sell, or trade cars online. Let’s take a closer look at what Carvana and Carmax each have to offer.

Carvana

Carvana is one option that people looking to buy a car can use to make their search a little easier. Carvana allows people to pay for their car directly through their website. This means that you simply handle your paperwork, submit down payment information, select a pick-up or delivery time for the car, and you’re all set. If customers prefer to pick up their car instead of having it delivered, that option is available in twenty-six different cities across the United States.

Carvana also provides customers with customer support messaging on their website and provides a “100 day/4189 mile” guarantee that promises customers that they will take the car back if anything goes wrong within 100 days or 4,189 miles. Because customers are not able to examine cars in person, this guarantee is essential to putting people’s minds at rest about buying a car online.

Carmax

Carmax is another business that provides people with car buying options online. As the largest used car retailer in the United States, you have most likely already been exposed to the company before. Thanks to their size, they provide customers with their website where you are able to receive appraisals for your used car as well as browse through the cars that they have. With 126 used car superstores in operation across the country, Carmax also offers to deliver the car that you purchase from them, for a fee, of course.

How Do These Companies Impact Car Buying in the Future?

As the Coronavirus pandemic has continued, people have adjusted their lifestyles around various stay-at-home orders and changes. Thanks to the ability to buy cars at a distance, people have been able to purchase cars from without ever having seen them in person. This method of buying, selling, and trading cars online as well as getting appraisals online is a convenient way to make car buying an easier process while also protecting people from the Coronavirus. As things go back to normal, using businesses like Carvana and Carmax have the potential to become the new normal since they provide convenience and high-quality services, even from a distance.
