The Missing Piece to Your Home Office: A Standing Desk Converter (Made in San Diego)

The Missing Piece to Your Home Office: A Standing Desk Converter (Made in San Diego)

If you’ve worked from home for any length of time, you likely have the basics in place. You have your computer and any other supplies needed to complete your daily tasks. You have your ergonomic office chair, a desk, some task lighting, and a system for keeping all your papers organized.

What you may not have, however, is something that will help you improve your focus, increase productivity, and reduce stress. What could possibly do all that? The answer for many people is a standing desk converter.

What Is a Standing Desk Converter?

If you aren’t familiar with a standing desk converter, it’s a stand that you can place on your existing desk to hold your computer or laptop. It allows you to ditch your office chair and work while standing.

Many people are familiar with standing desks (sometimes called sit-stand desks). A standing desk and a standing desk converter produce the same end result—they both allow you to work from a standing position.

The obvious advantage of a standing desk converter over a standing desk is that they are typically much more affordable. Standing desks can cost more than $1,000, while a standing desk converter can be purchased for less than $200. Another advantage of the standing desk converter is that it is transportable, allowing you to turn any desk you use into a standing desk. So, if you work from home some days, and at your employer’s location other days, you can simply move the standing desk converter from location to location and enjoy its benefits anywhere you work.

What to Look for in a Standing Desk Converter

Standing desk converters come in all shapes and sizes and are made from a variety of materials. You can find styles that are modern and sleek and some that look better in a more traditional style of office. However, looks aren’t the only thing you should consider when selecting a standing desk converter.

First of all, you will likely want a standing desk converter that is collapsible. This makes it easy to transport from home to office, or to even take it with you on a work trip, if need be. It will also make it easier to store if you decide you want to work without it for a while. For many of the same reasons, you also want your standing desk converter to be lightweight.

In addition, you want to look for a standing desk converter that is adjustable. Not everyone is the same height, and not all desks or workstations are the same height either. Find a standing desk converter that allows you to adjust the shelves on which you place your laptop, keyboard, and/or monitor so it is the perfect height for working.

Finally, you want a standing desk converter that has a small footprint. You will likely still want room on your main desk for other items, so look for a unit that doesn’t take up too much space.

A great option that meets all the above criteria is the Alto Standing Desk. With more than 200 five-star customer reviews, this high-quality standing desk converter is great for just about any office. What is more, the company that manufactures and sells it plants a tree for every stand purchased!
